Most Dryer Vent Problems Were Built In. We Reroute, Repair, and Install to Code.

The wrong duct material, too many elbows, or a run that dumps into a crawl space instead of the exterior wall are installation problems no amount of cleaning will fix.

Flexible foil duct — the shiny accordion tubing behind a lot of dryers — is allowed under some codes in very short runs, but it is also the material most prone to crushing, sagging, and trapping lint at every ripple. Rigid sheet-metal duct moves air more efficiently, seals at the joints, and does not collapse when something gets shoved against it. When we pull a dryer out and find twelve feet of crushed foil with three 90-degree elbows ending in a crawl space, that is not a cleaning job. That is an installation that needs to be redone.

Universe Air Ducts handles new dryer-vent installs, full reroutes that bring an existing run up to code, and targeted repairs on crushed sections, loose joints, and failing terminations. Every job includes a free safety inspection — a documented look at your vent path, material, run length, elbow count, and termination. If what you have is sound, we tell you. If it needs work, we explain exactly what and why before anything starts.

What you get

Rigid Metal Over Foil Flex

Rigid sheet-metal duct does not crush, sag, or collect lint at every accordion fold — we install it as the default and tell you why.

Code-Compliant Terminations

Dryer vents have to exit the building through a specific cap type — we never run them into attics, crawl spaces, or garages.

Free Safety Inspection With Every Job

Every install or repair includes a documented inspection of your full vent path at no extra charge.

Licensed, Bonded, and Insured

All installation work is done by licensed technicians and covered under our bonded and insured contractor status.

How it works

1

Full Vent-Path Assessment

Before any work, we map the existing run — or the planned path for a new install — noting length, elbow count, material condition, and termination point.

2

Written Scope and Flat Quote

We tell you exactly what needs to happen and what it costs before we start. Reroutes and installs are a flat project price, not hourly.

3

Install or Repair Work

We install rigid metal sections, seal joints with foil tape (not screws that snag lint), and route the run to the shortest practical exterior exit.

4

Termination and Airflow Check

We fit a code-compliant exterior cap, seal the wall penetration, and take a final airflow reading to confirm the finished system moves air at the right rate.

Homeowners who booked vent install and repair

yelp

“We moved into a new construction home and assumed the ducts would be clean — they were not. The tech pulled out drywall dust, insulation fragments, and construction debris I could see on the camera feed in real time. Flat upfront pricing meant no surprises on the invoice, and the whole job took under two hours. Highly recommend to anyone in a new build.”

“I booked the dryer vent cleaning after my dryer was taking two full cycles to dry a single load. The Universe Air Ducts tech cleared out a serious lint blockage, and now my dryer runs like it did when it was brand new — one cycle, done. The $99 flat rate was exactly what I paid, nothing extra. Quick, professional, and actually worth every penny.”

“Called on a Tuesday and had an appointment by Thursday, which was faster than I expected. The technician used shoe covers and laid drop cloths throughout the house, so there was zero mess left behind after the job. My wife has asthma and has noticed a real improvement in the air quality since the cleaning. We did the combo deal — air ducts and dryer vent — and felt the bundle price was very fair.”

FAQ

Vent Install and Repair questions

How long can a dryer vent legally be?

The residential code caps a straight run at 35 feet, with deductions for each elbow — about 5 feet for a 90 and 2.5 for a 45. Plenty of homes already blow past that thanks to a poor original install.

My dryer is on an interior wall. Can it still vent outside?

Almost always, yes. The path may go up through the ceiling and across the attic to a gable or roof cap, or down through a floor cavity. We assess the options and recommend the shortest practical route.

What is wrong with venting into the garage?

It dumps lint, combustion byproducts, and humidity into a space that usually stores flammables and connects to living areas — a code violation in most places and a real fire and moisture risk.

Can you repair just one section, or does the whole run need replacing?

If the damage is isolated — one crushed section or a failed elbow — a targeted repair is often the right call. If the run is long, all foil, or has several problem points, a full replacement usually ends up the smarter spend.
